More Than Just My Work: Outside of therapy, I consider myself to be a little neurospicy and often have a few creative projects on the go. Some of my interests include Japanese anime, 90s and 2000s punk rock, and working on a 1,000-piece puzzle inspired by Black-owned zodiac-themed art. Music has always been a meaningful part of my life. As a jazz and opera vocalist who also plays guitar, I continue to find inspiration in the arts.
“Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall.”
About Me: I’m a Registered Social Worker and Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying. I hold 2 Bachelor Degrees; one in Gender Studies and the other in Social Work. I also hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology. I have been working in the mental health field for over 11 years.
My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, meaning our work will be grounded in respect, empathy, and your own unique strengths. I integrate a variety of effective modalities, including narrative therapy, somatic work, Mind-Body Attunement, neuro-linguistic approaches, and internal family systems. These forms of therapy are highly effective in normalizing the mind-body connection and supporting the healing of emotional wounds, including intergenerational trauma.
My hope: I want therapy to be a time well spent for you. You’re showing up because you want something to be ‘better’ or ‘different’ in your life. My hope is that our work together is useful for you, so you can start seeing change that is making a difference.
Life is always going to have its ‘ebbs and flows’. Good days and bad days are going to fluctuate. When they do, my hope is that our work together will translate outside of the therapy room where you can confidently start noticing ‘you doing life,’ rather than ‘life happening to you.’
My Why: Throughout my career, I’ve been on my own journey of identity learning (mostly unlearning), and I’ve learned that identity isn’t ‘something we find’, but instead ‘something we come into.’ As a queer Black woman, I am keenly aware of the unique challenges faced by people of colour, queer, trans, and non-binary folx. My intent is to not only create a safe space for all my clients but also a brave space where genuine transformation and exploration can occur.
