More Than Just My Work: My favourite ways to unwind include moments of solitude, sitting outside and watching/listening to the birds, walking along the beach, and reading.

Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going on inside ourselves.
— Bessel A. Van der Kolk

As an embodied psychotherapist, I believe wholeheartedly in the value of connecting with a safe and trusted other.

As someone who has worked with clients living with trauma and as someone impacted by trauma, I am passionate about bearing witness to people’s suffering and I am inspired by their resilience, strength, and capacity for healing. I understand how trauma can impact us on several levels and I am passionate about supporting the healing process using a person-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative approach. I value the sacredness of the therapeutic relationship and look forward to working together on your journey toward healing, growth, and wholeness.

Experience

My experience includes providing support to adults who are navigating the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma, emotion regulation, PTSD, relationship issues, parenting concerns, loss and grief, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, dissociative identity disorders, and personality disorders.

I also enjoy working with couples and use Emotionally Focused Therapy to support them to understand their interaction cycle and improve their relationships.

I am committed to my own healing process and see this as a fundamental aspect of my growth as a therapist. It took many years on my own healing journey to realize the importance of slowing down, resting, and learning to say ‘no’. Before working in this field I was a yoga instructor and what I loved the most about teaching was promoting the importance of slowing down and inviting students to listen to their bodies. Having recently completed the Somatic Experiencing training, I am able to weave SE techniques into my work to support folks to attune to their bodies in a new way that can help facilitate the healing of trauma and other stress disorders.
