Madelyn Whittle

Registered Psychotherapist (she/her)

Locations: Point Edward & Virtual

Populations: Individuals, Young Adults (17+), Adults (All Ages), and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks.

More Than Just My Work: When my therapist hat is off, you can find me on my yoga mat, curled up with my latest fantasy fiction series (or re-reading old favourites), enjoying a good game night, or volunteering at a local animal rescue. As a Cancerian, I feel most grounded when I’m on, in, or near the water! Though I also love exploring new hiking trails, appreciating critters in their natural habitats, and taking in any and all scenic views I can find.

My Why:

An abundance of experiences throughout my life led me to pursue a career in psychotherapy. As someone who is personally familiar with mental illness and the profound imprints these experiences can have on so many spheres of a person’s life, I have an intimate understanding of how impactful it is when you connect with the right supports at the right time. I deeply value meaningful relationships and view learning and growth as a lifelong process, rather than a fixed destination. I am consistently inspired by the human ability to sit with, move through, and survive difficulty, our capacity for change and resilience, our capacity for love and connection, and our willingness to bravely step into vulnerability and show up authentically.

My Hopes:

I believe therapy can be a safe and creative space for self-exploration and discovery! My approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, inclusivity, our shared humanity, and (when appropriate), humour. I aim to support clients in an engaged and affirming way - to create a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere where clients feel empowered to develop coping tools and move toward their desired goals with intention.

Education and Experience:

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and have worked in various spheres of the mental health sector since 2015, including at non-profit and community agencies, addiction treatment programs, and in private practice. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University and previously completed a Bachelor’s degree in Adult Development from the University of Guelph. I have completed various trainings on attachment, mindfulness, narrative therapy, CBT, solution-focused & brief therapy, self-compassion, DBT, trauma-informed practices, emotion regulation, neurodiversity-affirming practices, 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming practices, chronic pain &mental health, and suicide risk assessment and intervention. I am currently enjoying learning more about somatic-based therapies, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
