More Than Just My Work: I enjoy staying active with my partner and our two children and attending local rugby matches when not in the office.

β€œEnjoy this day. Be present for yourself and those you love. Breathe deeply. Be Fearless to face life’s challenges. Always be bold and try new things. Never be afraid to be challenged; always face those challenges to the best of your ability.”

I have always attempted to make the therapeutic relationship one that meets the individual where they are;

I have always felt that providing those seeking support the space they need to share their concerns the best way they can, in their way, allows for people to release tension and allow themself to overcome the anxiety of entering into a supportive and therapeutic relationship.

Often, when people first start therapy, they share that "this isn't that big a problem" or "other people have it worse, I am sure." I utilize an individualistic approach throughout the therapeutic process to accommodate each client's unique experience, needs, and goals for therapy while striving to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved.

Experience

I am a Registered Social Worker and a Master of Social Work Candidate providing support and specialization in working with youth and adults from various backgrounds. I am capable and proficient in connecting with clients from a client center and an anti-oppressive focus of support. I offer ten years of counselling experience with advanced training in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, attachment issues, grief and loss, complex hoarding, homelessness, sexual violence and exploitation.

My approach is centred on anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive attachment and trauma theory. I focus on ensuring individuals are supported in a welcoming and safe therapeutic environment; my goal is to ensure individuals feel supported and empowered while working towards a return of autonomy and self-determination and to develop their own understanding of themselves and the world in which they live.
